About Us

Who We Are

Pawnee Methodist Church is more than just a simple one room, white church, in a tiny
map dot Texas town. It is a simple one room, white church, in a tiny map dot Texas town
that is saturated with prayers dating back over 100 years – with an abundance of room
for more.
We could easily sit here and fill this page with statistics and dates and founders – but,
honestly, who gets a feel for a church family that way? What we can tell you is that our
church is full of kind and caring, genuine people from all walks of life. Remember, we
are all on our own journeys but it’s best to travel together.
When you stand out in front of our church in the shade of the mesquite trees you are
greeted with a smile and a wave from the front porch steps, then again in the foyer, and
you guessed it, again once through the next set of doors. Along with the smiles and
waves you are welcomed with love and warmth as you are immediately welcomed into
our church family.
Once inside, you may find boys being boys doing their best to shoot a napkin into the
trash can, babies cooing, young parents hoping they aren’t “disturbing” others. Then on
the other hand, you see elders of the church beaming with joy over the youth (from
babies to young parents) because they know they are the future of the church and those
that will continue to carry the light of Jesus into the world for the years to come. Some
might say that observing the children’s time during worship is the greatest part,
especially with their unpredictable answers.
The elders still ring the bell to begin worship service, the young and the elders do their
best to quiet down – our elders are all still quite young at heart! Our family prays for
others, prays for each other, and still prays for rain. But some days, we have a projector
to display new to us songs that aren’t in the hymnal. You see as we slowly do our best
to keep up with modern times to an extent, we still value that traditional Sunday church
service. Have you heard that country song “That’s What I Love about Sundays?” by
Craig Morgan? I would say that is what our Sundays feel like. We are a welcoming truly
come as you are family. We enjoy worshipping together and doing our best to share the
love and light of Jesus to all that we may cross paths with. If you are looking for a love
filled home and traditional worship services, we would love for you to join us!
